PA Training And Environmental Awareness

posted on: August 11th, 2010
Nowadays, being environmentally aware is second nature to us at home, or even to our kids at school. However, organising workers in an office environment to be eco-friendly can sometimes feel like trying to herd cats! A basic PA course will teach you about efficiency concerning both your workplace and its people.

There are some simple habits you may want to try implementing in your workplace. These include eradicating the need for hard copies where possible (saving on paper, printer ink and energy), printing double-sided documents (that’s HALVING your paper consumption!), “powering down” or “sleeping” electronic equipment when out of use, turning lights and computer monitors off at the end of the day or during times of respite, and providing recycle bins for office waste.

Since the ever-changing role of the PA can encompass “office management”, it’s essential that you possess the skills to handle your colleagues (diplomacy!). PA training can provide you with the confidence and people-skills to carefully manage colleague issues as they arise, avoiding conflicts which create an unpleasant working environment. People-skills are certainly a fundamental area of focus on our PA courses, since your career (and your employer’s) could be made or broken depending on how you treat a client or co-workers.

Encouraging environmental awareness
in the office is a win-win situation for both the company and your reputation. Are you aware that many PA positions develop to cover project management responsibilities too? Bosses need to know they can rely on your skills, and instigating thrifty, eco-friendly changes could be the way to showcase them!
